TEHRAN -- The Iranian film Under the Moonlight directed by Reza Mir-Karimi was awarded the Silver Peacock in the 2002 International Film Festival of India (IFFI).

65 films from 40 countries participated in the 33rd International Film Festival of India held in New Delhi. The festival wound up on October 10.

Totally 8 Iranian films were screened in the festival from which the films Stranger directed by Ramin Behrani and Under the Moonlight made by Mir-Karimi participated in the competition section of the festival.

The Iranian director Reza Mir-Karimi said that there are appropriate fields for the cinematic cooperation of Iran and India.

He added that there are close cultural and artistic bonds between Iran and India hoping that the cinematic figures would be able to strengthen the cultural and artistic ties of the two countries.
